Someone made the comment, “Now that Makenzie’s class has graduated and will be moving to different parts of the globe, just think about how many more will hear her story!” I hadn’t thought of that. I hadn’t wrapped my brain around the fact that part of her senior class’s story is her life, death and life.
I can hear the conversations:
“… and there was this one girl who died before senior year.”
“… Makenzie use to wiggle through me and my boyfriend and say ‘Make room for Jesus’. But I never got mad; she was just cool that way.”
“… before her death I didn’t really get this God-stuff. Now it’s all different.”
As I think about her influence, I only pray that the relationships that I have — that I develop — will have a deeper meaning than sharing a cup of coffee and talking about current events. I pray that for you as well, friend. Because when all is said and done, a full life is defined not by the quantity of your possessions, but by the quality of your relationships.
(PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for me as I share Makenzie’s story this Sunday at The Alley Church in Cottage Grove).
Peace,
todd
