I have it pretty good. I sit in my comfy home office, watching the snow gently fall onto the hydrangea bushes outside. My hot coffee sits on a mug warmer a foot away from me, and my dog snores right over there on the couch. I get annoyed with politics, more annoyed at the banter, and I complain too much about it all.
This morning, my mind wanders to those who continue to serve to allow me the freedom to live like this. Those on the front lines who had no comfy office. Those whose decisions affect millions of lives. Those who spend days, months, nay, years away from their families to create an environment for me to whine about all kinds of things — things that don’t matter, really.
If you are a veteran, stomaching my sloppy words, I want you to know that from at least this American, I am truly grateful. Whether you “shuffle papers” or fly a “multirole” in one of our armed forces, you don’t receive enough credit. You live with a great purpose, and many of us, while unspoken, deep down love and appreciate all of you.
Happy Veterans Day, my friends. May there be many more.
“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Peace!
Thanks Todd for your kind words. Your help with my folks will never be forgotten. Blessings on Veterans Day (Vietnam 66/67). Mike Boho
