I took my 18 year old daughter to see Disney’s latest rendition of the classic story, “Cinderella.” Expecting the theater to be filled with little children and moms, I was surprised to see that most of the audience were adults, men and women alike. There is a reason for that. The movie is epic, in my humble opinion, and would be wasted on little kids. Yes, go see it if you haven’t!

Be Angry
All of us get angry. There is something that someone does or a situation that doesn’t work out that causes our faces to redden, our brows to furrow and our pulse to do backflips. There is a holy place for anger if it is spurred by the right things.
How To Make It A Great Day!
Every morning you have a decision to make, a question to answer. The outcome of the question will make or break your outlook on life, longer term. That question is …
How to Help Those Who Experience Loss
You may have been there. Someone close to you loses a loved one and you find yourself in that situation of wanting to help but not knowing how.
Recently, someone in the ToddStocker.com community asked me what to do when his cousin died at a young age and was wanting to console her parents. Given that I’ve been on the other side of it, I offered this simple advice.
Don’t Let Fear Box You In
Why do we put God in a box? I do it. You do it. I think every human being who knows there’s a God, does it. We try to figure him out. We try to wrap our finite human understanding around an infinite God. I preached on Mark 9 yesterday when Jesus took his friendsContinue reading “Don’t Let Fear Box You In”
Love Year Round
CAN LOVE BE LIMITED?
Valentine’s Day! So I’m going to make a judgment and hopefully you can look past my assumptions in order to get the gist of this post.
Find Your Hammer
[If you want to be notified of new posts via email, click here] Why is it that we tend to try to live our lives doing something we weren’t designed to do? I’ve started to collect interesting crosses to hang on my wall behind my desk. Someone gave me another just the other day. DeterminedContinue reading “Find Your Hammer”
Coming Alive
[If you want to be notified of new posts via email, click here] Have you ever had one of those days that seemed like you were slopping through meetings, tasks and emails at the pace of a snail. Have you ever come home exhausted and could barely remember smiling over the past 8-10 hours? We’ve allContinue reading “Coming Alive”
Super Bowl XLIX Greatness
[If you want to be notified of new posts via email, click here] Deflate gate. Brady sickness. Sherman due date. No matter what part of the NFL Super Bowl XLIX saga you follow, each has the possibility of making this Super Bowl one that could change on a dime [or millions of them if you’re a player]. EachContinue reading “Super Bowl XLIX Greatness”
Airport Stories
[If you want to be notified of new posts via email, click here] I love sitting at airports. Call me strange, but I enjoy watching people try to navigate the confusing garage parking, self-checkin ticket kiosks and security checkpoints. Truth be told, I am planted at a coffee shop as I write, waiting for myContinue reading “Airport Stories”
God With Us
Several years ago, I was one of 10 people who traveled to Israel on an ‘unscripted’ trip. I say ‘unscripted’ because it wasn’t led by a tour company but by a colleague who’d been there many times before. The beauty of this trip was that we went to places that most tour companies didn’t frequent.Continue reading “God With Us”
Too Busy To Drink
Indulge me in a quick time of introspection. I just looked back at the last time I spent enough time to journal my bible reading (read about that here) and it was over a month ago. For me, that’s far too long. I’m not beating myself up about it. I’m not offering rams, sheep andContinue reading “Too Busy To Drink”
Jesus – God’s Secret Santa Gift?
I sat in anticipation as my gift was opened. The person who picked it didn’t know I gave it, yet they were thrilled. It was a gum ball machine – $9.99 at Walgreens and the perfect secret santa gift. I love this game. You pick an anonymous gift. If the next person wants it, theyContinue reading “Jesus – God’s Secret Santa Gift?”
He Restores My Soul
It’s the kind of morning that comes too often. Flying into the hours too fast. Running out the door. Forgetting what shouldn’t be forgotten and listening to the drone of the radio talk as I head to work. Except, this morning, I choose to derail the norm. I really don’t need to get into workContinue reading “He Restores My Soul”
I Choose Joy
Up here, it’s cold, rainy and dark. The yellowing tree leaves pretend to be the sun but it’s still rank with clouds. Such it is transition for us Northerners from summer to winter through fall. I enjoy the change but I have to choose to do so. I like when old and new collide into aContinue reading “I Choose Joy”
